Sage Intacct Customer Profile: USA Fencing

Andrea White - Thursday, April 05, 2018

USA Fencing is a nonprofit with a mission of growing the centuries-old sport of fencing. Three primary revenue streams support the organization—membership dues, tournament revenues, and grants from major funders like the U.S. Olympic Committee and Department of Veterans Affairs. This model requires complex financial reporting that was difficult to keep up with using basic accounting software like QuickBooks.

“When it became clear that we needed a more powerful system to handle our nonprofit accounting needs, we evaluated both Sage Intacct and Blackbaud,” said Keri Khan, director of finance and business services at USA Fencing. “Sage Intacct was without a doubt the best choice for..." Learn More

Andrea White - Wednesday, January 31, 2018
OSAS has updated its Change Batches feature in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchase Order, and Sales Order to allow you to change the batch on orders without locking the whole batch. In prior versions, you would have had to ensure that no one was accessing any of the orders in a batch before you could move orders. Now, OSAS will move what it can, skipping over orders that are in use by other users. Those in-use orders are listed on a log for reference purposes..

New Financial Insight Advances PAWS Chicago's Mission

Andrea White - Friday, December 08, 2017

PAWS Chicago is a 20-year-old nonprofit focused on making Chicago a “no kill” community for dogs and cats. In support of this mission, the organization adopts out over 5,000 animals annually. As the organization has grown, its management team needed a better way to track separate financials for all of their programs, while still producing the standard nonprofit tax reports.

“We reached a point as an organization where our chart of accounts was getting overly complex, and it was nearly impossible to prepare our Form 990 efficiently, let alone any type of managerial reporting,” said Alisa Brill, CFO at PAWS Chicago. “We knew we were too big to still be on QuickBooks and were drawn to Sage Intacct by its approach to capturing a variety of operational dimensions that would allow us to slice and dice data at the specific program, department, or vendor-level.” Working with Porte Brown, PAWS Chicago eliminated separate purchasing, bill pay, and time and expense systems, and streamlined these workflows within Sage Intacct. By using the robust modules in the cloud-based financial management solution...  Read More

What's on Your Dashboard?

Andrea White - Wednesday, November 08, 2017
In the not too distant past, businesses struggled to acquire insightful financial reports in a timely and efficient manner. The data was often too late to affect any immediate business decisions, or it was too incomplete to offer any real insight or understanding of the company's current performance.

In today's business environment, though, there definitely isn't a problem with having too little data available at your fingertips. It's quite the opposite in fact. Businesses have so much data that it is hard to effectively sort and analyze it without a considerable amount of time. Companies of all sizes are being inundated with a mountain of data on a daily basis. On top of that, the data is often too buried within a database to access it in an efficient manner or even know what information is actually worth pulling.

This begs the question, how can I get greater access to my company's data and use it effectively?

It often starts with finding a software application that can help organize, automate, and provide real-time data visibility of your company's performance metrics. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done, especially when your company has to deal with outdated legacy software applications or several different programs that don't communicate with each other. Antiquated programs and "software silos" are an all-too-common reality for...  Read More
