There's a Detective Lurking in Your QuickBooks Software

The Audit Trail feature in QuickBooks is designed to maintain a record of changes made to individual transactions. Each time a transaction is created, modified or deleted, QuickBooks keeps a record of the change, as well as the date, time and the user who made the change. All of this information is accessible by running the Audit Trail Report. Initially, the report displays entries that were created or modified today. You can change the date range or report filters by clicking the Modify Report button.

To create the Audit Trail report, choose Accountant & Taxes from the Reports menu; then choose Audit Trail.

A note of caution: All users signing on under the same username will ultimately reduce the effectiveness of the Audit Trail feature. Be sure to set up each user with a unique username and password.
