Calendar for August 2021

Basics About the Report

The EEO-1 survey is a report required to be submitted to the EEOC by:

These employers must provide a count of their employees by job category and then by ethnicity, race, and gender. This is called Component 1 data. The report may be submitted through the EEO-1 Online Filing System on the EEOC's website.

Changing Deadlines for Prior EEO-1 Reports

For decades, the annual EEO-1 report due date was September 30. But in 2018, the due date changed to March 31. Then in 2019, the due date for the 2018 report was changed due to the government shutdown. And in 2020, the due date for the EEO-1 survey was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This Year's Deadline

In January 2021, the EEOC announced that it planned to reopen both the 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 report submissions in April 2021. On April 26, 2021, the EEOC opened the 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 report submissions. At the time, the EEOC said the data collection would end on July 19, 2021.

On June 28, 2021, the EEOC announced that the deadline for the 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 reports will now be August 23, 2021. However, the agency added that "we encourage eligible employers to file the required EEO-1 Component 1 report(s) as soon as possible."
